ArtX Contemporary, located in Seattle’s Pioneer Square, is a space where art crosses borders — geographic, cultural, and conceptual. For thirty years, the gallery has championed artists who challenge dominant narratives, open conversations, and illuminate shared humanity through their work.
Celebrating three decades of global art and cultural exchange, ArtX Contemporary presents 30
Years, 1000 Stories,
a lively group exhibition that gathers artists whose diverse practices and
perspectives form a vivid tapestry of the gallery’s ever evolving identity. Together, their works
trace the threads of ArtX Contemporary’s story — one defined by curiosity, inclusion, and a
shared vision of human connection through art.

Founded in 1995, Gallery Director Cora Edmonds envisioned a space in Seattle dedicated to
international art and cultural exchange. What began as an online gallery soon expanded into
pop-up showrooms and, in 2006, a permanent home in Pioneer Square, where the gallery
continues to thrive. Over time, its mission has evolved to include both internationally
recognized artists and contemporary voices from across the United States, creating a dialogue
between local and global perspectives.

In 30 Years, 1000 Stories, each artist offers a unique voice — yet in conversation, they create a
larger, resonant whole. Painting, sculpture, photography, textile, and works on paper come
together to explore questions of place, identity, heritage, ecology, and belonging. The diversity
of artwork reflects the essence of ArtX Contemporary itself — a gallery not defined by a single
style, but by the interplay of many.

The exhibition positions diversity not as a curatorial theme, but as an inherent condition of ArtX
Contemporary’s practice. Each artist, singular in vision, contributes to a collective fabric that
challenges boundaries and expands our understanding of what it means to exist in a globalized
community.

ArtX Contemporary has always been a meeting place for ideas,” says Cora Edmonds, Gallery
Director. “For thirty years, we’ve invited artists and audiences to engage in conversation — to
listen, to question, and to see the world through one another’s eyes. 30 Years, 1000 Stories
celebrates that ongoing dialogue.
