ArtXchange Gallery is proud to announce that we are a 2016 Friends of Folklife Program Partner!
ArtXchange Gallery is an intercultural art space that brings the community together to experience artwork, learn, and be inspired by diverse local and international artists. Northwest Folklife, well known for the annual Northwest Folklife Festival every summer, creates opportunities for all to celebrate, share, and participate in the evolving cultural traditions of the Pacific Northwest. Like ArtXchange Gallery, Northwest Folklife encourages communities to share their cultural arts, believing that interaction with new audiences enriches the community as much as the audience. When people share aspects of their culture, opportunities are created to dissolve misunderstandings, break down stereotypes and increase respect for one another.
Friends of Folklife are treated to special cultural events throughout the community during the year. In 2016, ArtXchange Gallery will be hosting several events for the Friends of Folklife that explore the history, social issues, and cultural traditions that ArtXchange Gallery artists draw their inspiration from.
