Join ArtXchange Gallery and Alan Lau for an unforgettable creative experience featuring special guests Haruko Crow Nishimura, Steve Peters, and Stan Shikuma. Three performing artists will interpret paintings by Alan Lau and present original works of dance, sound, and performance.
Haruko Crow Nishimura
Haruko Crow Nishimura is a dancer/choreographer, co-director and musician with Degenerate Art Ensemble (DAE), a multi-disciplinary artist who is always searching to discover how art can create deeper connections and awakenings. She has lead the creation of large scale theatrical works as well as having performed as lead vocalist for DAE’s touring experimental punk orchestra.
Her work with DAE was the subject of a major exhibition at the Frye Art Museum in 2011, was commissioned by director Robert Wilson to re interpret his work Einstein on the Beach in 2012, collaborated with the Kronos Quartet in 2013 and undertook a massive site specific collaboration with Olson Kundig Architects to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Seattle World’s Fair. Crow is constantly pushing the boundaries of her medium; dancing in the street, creating rituals for strangers and seeking collaboration outside of her media. She received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2012.

He performs with Seattle Kokon Taiko and directs Kaze Daiko (a taiko youth group) Stan started playing taiko in 1981 and currently serves on the Board of the Taiko Community Alliance (TCA), sponsor of the North American Taiko Conference.
