June Sekiguchi shares words of encouragement and hope for getting through this historic moment on the Community Voices Series, a public art project hosted by the Future Ancient in collaboration with the Seattle Art Museum and Seattle Office of Arts. This series showcases local API artists’ and cultural workers’ perspectives on this time of unprecedented social change.
June Sekiguchi makes sculptures and large scale immersive installations that are pattern based, modular and site responsive. Her primary medium is engineered wood panel, which she cuts intricate patterns into with a scroll saw. Both in and out of the studio, June is interested in social justice issues, cultural exchange, mental health and elder communities.
