The opening of the ArtXchange Gallery in its new Pioneer Square location featured the national premiere of the Legacies of War preview exhibition and fundraising benefit. The benefit supported the development of a traveling museum exhibition to raise awareness of the Vietnam War-era U.S. bombings in Laos and its harmful effects on the local villagers today. The people of Laos remain the most bombed population per capita in the world.
A diverse crowd of over 200 individuals attended the opening; they included supporters, politicians, diplomats, and key members of the Laotian-American community. Event speakers included Congressman Jim McDermott and U.N. Ambassador Alounkeo Kittokhoun.
